Improving Our Image
As part of a newly expanded Radiology suite, a new MRI scanner and CT scanner have recently been delivered to Faulkner Hospital and will be used for patient care beginning in the spring. The state-of-the-art equipment will replace existing equipment and will increase Faulkner’s inpatient and outpatient clinical capabilities to allow for the continued expansion of the medical and surgical care provided at the hospital. The new equipment will be installed in the brand new CT and MRI suite currently under construction and located near the hospital’s main entrance. After staff training is completed, the new CT scanner will be used for patient care starting the week of March 18 and the MRI machine will be used for patient care beginning the week of April 18. According to Stuart Hooton, RT, administrative director of Radiology at Faulkner, the new CT scanner will enable a 33 percent increase in imaging volume and the new MRI is slated to increase capacity by at least 20 percent over the next year. In addition to the new equipment, newly expanded hours including more evening and weekend appointments will better accommodate patients’ needs.
